I've been using the bare minerals I ordered from the infomercial. I needed a fresh supply but found it's very expensive. Avon had some on sale from $10 to $7.99 so I ordered some. It seems exactly the same to me. Now they have warmth and mineral veil -- I don't know how they can use the same name.

A man told us that if we didn't leave his property immediately, he'd get his gun and shoot us. He was so angry--it was scary. Sad thing is, later in the safety of the car we felt a little validated for being "persecuted."

Forsharry,
I've heard those Maine Coon cats are really mellow and sweet. Are they as calm as they look?

Is it weird that I don't miss it?
by bluesbreaker59 inok, other than my father, i don't miss anything about being a dub at all.
seriously, i love my life right now, its great, thinking for myself, doing what i want, etc., etc.. i've only been out 3 months, officially, and i find no "void" or anything.
i've got a bunch of great friends on the outside, that i had for years while being jw, and then i have my mother and all her family supporting me.

Didn't miss the boring meetings, assemblies, field service, magazines or books. Didn't miss pretending that it was oh, so interesting and exciting. Didn't miss pretending not to see all the problems. I have to admit that I did miss my friends. It sounds like you have a good support system and are going great.

Went to a conference and....
by Crafty Lady ini went to a three day conference for work held at a hotel in rochester, ny.
the rooms all had the highest beds i've ever seen.
had to stand on tiptoes and put one side of my rear on the bed and then sort of jump and wiggle up.

You're right Gary. That was some fine dining. We'd belly up to those stand-up feeding troughs, didn't we? Or if you were a kid, your tray was at mouth or eye level. Wonder how many poked themselves in the eye.

I went to a three day conference for work held at a hotel in Rochester, NY. The rooms all had the highest beds I've ever seen. Had to stand on tiptoes and put one side of my rear on the bed and then sort of jump and wiggle up. I got up one night and put my feet over the edge and slid down--it felt like I was falling (very disorienting when you're half asleep). Does anyone know why the beds would be so high or seen this in other hotels? It doesn't seem like it would be safe if children were sleeping there. Falling out of bed could be dangerous.
Last night at the banquet, the tables were set very nicely--3 forks 2 knives, butter plate, the works! But, no coffee cups, which I thought was strange. The servers starting bringing out the trays with the dinners and taking them to the tables. We were near the back and they started in the front. After a while I noticed that they were no longer bringing food out of the kitchen and our table and another one didn't have any food (we decimated the rolls and butter, however). A lot of the other people were already through eating. One of the women at my table went and found a server and asked if they forgot about us and was told our dinners would be right out. Another five minutes and they started bringing dinners out again. The other people got a beef fillet and crab cake but we got the beef and a piece of fish. We figured that they ran out of something and had to quickly cook something else (probably the fish). Strange since they had an exact number and no extra guests--maybe someone in the kitchen had a fondness for crab cakes or they miscounted. That can happen.
When we were finally finished eathing, that must have been a signal for the coffee to be served, because a young man came out of the kitchen carrying a cup and saucer in each hand. He proceeded to go around and ask each person if they wanted coffee and if they did, he set the empty cup down. Since he only had two he had to turn around and go back into the kitchen and come back out with two more. You can imagine how long that took. It was the most inefficient thing I've ever seen. Then we sat there with empty cups until the servers came around finally with the coffee pots after the cup marathon finished. I can't figure out why the coffee cups weren't put on the table originally. Almost everyone has coffee, decaff, or tea after dinner. The fact that they waited so long was ridiculous--they should have brought the coffee while we were eating. It's like they had a set pattern and they weren't going to deviate for anything.
Finally the speaker and award part of the program started and they announced that they asked the wait staff not to finish cleaning off the tables. So then the wait staff had to wait for an hour while we had our program. I kind of felt bad that they had to wait around to finish cleaning up but it wouldn't have happened if their timetable for the meal hadn't been so weird.
All in all it was a fun and informative conference, but I felt that banquet was a set-up for America's Funniest Videos. Does anyone have any good banquet or hotel stories (that they can share?)

The Underbelly is exposed...........
by AK - Jeff inwhat proactive things have you done [or intend to do] to warn others about the cult you have escaped?
the unfortunate fact of life is that we tend to look only at our own personal benefits from leaving the cult if not careful.
or we give up after a failed attempt.

It seems that we're fighting the good fight on two fronts. One trying to get people already in--out. Then to keep anyone else from joining. I haven't had any contact with witnesses for a long time and my family was either out or never been in. So, I work on the second one. When I hear people mention the witlesses, I almost always put my 2 cents in about what an awful religion it is. Sometimes it leads to pretty good discussions. I figure every little bit helps.

What Actually Made You Leave The "Truth"?
by minimus infor me it was a combination of things over a long period of time.
being raised as a witness, you do things by rote.
but when you see sooooooooo many watchtower inconsistencies, mistreatment of the "brothers", elder abuse, and simple lack of love, it begins to make you start seriously thinking.

My sister was disfellowshipped for living with her boyfried. A short time later they married and came in to the restaurant where I was working. Her husband told me they were married and I told him I still couldn't talk to her because she was disfellowshipped. Even as that stupid sentence crossed my lips, something snapped in me right then and there. I'll always remember the incredulous look on his face (you know, that look that says WTF?). I left soon after. I owe her one! Thanks, Sis!

Just came back from dinner (burger at a diner with my sister), but this thread is making my mouth water. I love Eggs Benedict too but I have to have the whites cooked thoroughly. Last time I ordered it, we specifically asked for them that way, but they were barely cooked. We should have returned it but they were very busy so we tried eating the rest of it. The waitress noticed and only charged us for one.
Also love corned beef hash with a fried egg or two on top and a little ketchup. I don't even like ketchup, but I like it with hash and eggs. Strange.
